I was at Apple-ISS from 1995-98 and tasked with everything related to user research, UX, and UI. Practically, that meant working with the brilliant Gareth Loudon on early development and later with Tai Hou & team to get a product out the door. The Apple Advanced Chinese Input Suite was certainly my main focus, but there were also other cool design projects - like the infamous “Mr Teacher”. After my time in Singapore, I moved back to California and continued to crank out designs for the usual suspects: Motorola, Google, Skype, Microsoft…

I left the corporate design world behind about 6 years ago - looking for a more favorable work-life balance. I ended up moving to Hawaii where I now work on freelance gigs (sacherdesign.com) and run my own, non-profit design experiments (studioresilience.com).

My time in Singapore with Apple-ISS is very special to me. Having the privilege to work with a super talented, culturally diverse team was awesome. Seeing the outcomes of those efforts shipping as award-winning products was truly inspiring.
